About the speakers

Yin Hoe Ong

Director of Dr.Toh Associates Sdn Bhd (PrEng, Ph.D)

Ir. Dr. Ong Yin Hoe is one of the directors of Dr. Toh Associates Sdn. Bhd. He has more than 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering. He has been appointed as an adjunct lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Petronas since 2022 and he is currently a co-opt member of Malaysian Geotechnical Society. He is enthusiastic about numerical engineering and regularly delivers lectures at the Midas conference.

Mohamed Hafez

Associate Professor of INTI -IU

Associate Prof. Dr Mohamed Hafez is a dedicated researcher & lecturer in the field of engineering who graduated with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Alexandria University, Egypt. In addition to that, he was also awarded a M.Sc. in Coastal erosion protection of Mangrove shoreline and a PhD in his research relating to the ground improvement of the soft coastal ground and from University Malaya, Malaysia. Currently, he is cultivating the minds of future engineers as a lecturer at INTI-IU University – Malaysia. He works in collaboration with University UNITEN R&D and TNB (TNBR) since 2014.

He has also received more than 25 national and international gold and silver medal awards including the (WIPO) award as the Best Inventor coming from developing countries for the year 2005 related to water research and geotechnical design and invention, including Invention Geneva, ITEX Malaysia and Seoul International Invention.

Chinmoy Pattanaik

Senior Geotechnical Engineer of MIDAS IT

Chinmoy joined MIDAS IT in 2019, where he provides geotechnical knowledge in a ulti-disciplinary design team, by means of solid numerical, theoretical and technical skills. He has been associated with the mining industry and large infrastractures projects, specializing in design optimization of geotechnical problems using FEM.
