OVERVIEW

When a load is repeated thousands/ millions of times, fatigue failure might control the design. In the previous ‘How I Design Bridge’ session, we discussed the importance of fatigue assessment and why we got the results of stress from Time History Analysis.

 

This training will verify the way to define the time historical data and apply them to the bridge, and will teach how to check results from time history analysis. We will also explain in detail the differences between various options that can be used in the time historical analysis process.

 

We hope this session helps all of engineers who are interested in Dynamic analysis.

KEY POINTS

Key Point 1: What to consider in the dynamic behavior of the bridge

In dynamic analysis, there are many things that we need to check such as the magnitude of loads, the speed of loading, the frequency of loading, and so on. We will perform dynamic analysis and see the dynamic response of the structure.

 

Key Point 2: How to define the time history analysis data

We will follow three steps for time history analysis data.

1. Time Forcing Functions. 2. Time History Load Cases. 3. Dynamic Nodal Loads. 

Let’s learn things to do in the steps.

 

Key Point 3: How to check time history analysis results

midas Civil provides a lot of useful post-processing results functions to see time history analysis results. We will follow several steps to get the stress and deformation graphs along the time.
