OVERVIEW

This webinar will present a case study of design and analysis process of steel slender footbridge built in Prague last year. The design according to EN 1993 codes with focusing on dynamic analysis of the footbridge in MIDAS software including designing of dampers for reducing the dynamically induced response of the structure will be introduced. The presentation will also cover design and analysis of the on-site assembly.

KEY POINTS

Key point 1: Footbridge Design

Prague Troja footbridge design needed to meet several challenges. Fast design and assembly according to neccesity to quickly replace previous collapsed footbridge, elevated position and slender shape involved by strict anti-flood regulations. The assembly had to be divided into incremental steps with the main span being mounted by pontoon shipping across the river.

Key point 2: Dynamic analysis

The process of preparing appropriate dynamic model in MIDAS is described, including several choices: mass distribution, type of modal analysis, induced dynamic loading models, the critical ranges of comfort, damping of structure and results interpretation.

Key point 3: Dynamic dampers design

The last described issue will present the design and analysis of dampers positions, mass and natural frequencies.
