OVERVIEW

Steel composite I girder bridge is a common type of long span highway bridge. This type of bridge has been proven to be cost-effective in many applications, combining lower material usage with longer spans and stiffer structures.

In this session Alice Xu will share her experience on the Panmure Eastern Busway Bridge, a common steel composite I girder highway bridge carrying vehicle traffic, pedestrian and cyclist.

We recommend this course to any engineer interested in the design/modelling of steel composite I girder bridge using steel composite wizard.

KEY POINTS

Key Point 1 : Steel Composite Wizard

We will share what she considered prior and during the use of the steel composite wizard.

Key Point 2 : Beyond Wizard Limitation

We will share the limitations in the wizard and what steps she took to complete the modelling of the bridge using conventional tools.

Key Point 3 : Application in New Zealand Context

We will give an overview of the application of seismic load, moving load, and temperature load in New Zealand context. Audiences will get ideas on how to utilize features to consider the design code.
